Music: The September Mix

So on Friday (or really, at 4am on Saturday), [info]mostlikely2 was asking what music I'm listening to nowadays, and I couldn't think of anything except Lady Gaga, which even for 4am, is just sad. And I remembered that [info]wendy does this thing where she posts a mix every month of things she's listened to that month. So I decided to do that, too, and try to remember what all I'm listening to. WOOT. Thank god for lastfm.

Track listing! Is here! )

Let me know if you have any issues with the download links. Also, I'm going to see Kelly Clarkson in November and I am SO FREAKING EXCITED. November is going to be the best month ever because:

1) KELLY
2) Kris's album
3) Adam's album
4) getting my netbook (fianlly!)

Now it's time to watch The Office and eat breakfast. Mmmm.

Firstly, my brilliant sister, [info]dersprokket, has had another essay published in Salon and you should all go read it and leave comments about how awesome she is and things: Excuse me while I stick my head in the toilet. She's going to write about coming to see American Idols Live the Kraddison Show with me and my mom next week (OMFG NEXT WEEEEEEK!!!), so if people like her enough in Salon, they might pick up the Idol essay.

Secondly, [info]iferion asked for 5 songs I think Adam Lambert should cover, and then [info]dontpanic4242 asked for 5 duets Adam and Kris could sing together, so I made a mix. I also included 5 songs Kris should cover, even though no one asked for it. What's wrong with you people? WHERE IS THE KRIS LOVE? He is like an adorable sex muppet! He deserves love, too. And by love, I mean a list of songs I think he should cover.

(This list was greatly restricted by my music collection, just so you know.)

Awww yeah, I even made art. Because I'm at work, and I have photoshop, and it almost looked like I was working on website shit! )

Fanmix: The Rescue Blues

Yes, I made a fanmix for my fic. But I decided not to feel dorky about making mixes for any fic over 15,000 words. I mean, a fic that long deserves some fucking music. I didn't make any cover art, though, because I don't have photoshop at home anymore and that is very sad. Instead, have a picture of Kris, who needs no photoshopping because he is perfect.

Yes, I made a mix. Because that's what I do. I made this when I was writing Wizard Not Included and I suppose this could be considered the soundtrack to that, except in my brain, Adam and Brad totally get back together, because YES.

music mix: how to be a playa

how to be a slut playa

1. No shame in this dancerie! We all have needs. Whether you're satisfying them yourself or getting help from a willing party, it's natural. Shame isn't natural, it's manufactured by a society created by puritans, and therefor, bullshit.

2. No regets. This covers all manner of sins, such as: a) always use protection even if it "feels better" without b) choose your partners carefully, ie no one who has the power to hurt you emotionally, no one is only pretty when you're drunk, no one who YOU have the power to hurt, and c) if it sucks, don't just keep going because you're desperate, and certainly do not go back for seconds! Here's a clue: if you have to be drunk/high to enjoy it, then it's not good enough, and you deserve better.

3. Even playas gotta have standards.

4. Play for the right reasons (ie because you want to and it's fun). No revenge fucking, no pity fucking, no desperation fucking. That sort of deal does not encompass the playa attitude, and leads to drama. and the fifth rule of how to be a playa is...

5. NO DRAMA. Learn from the wisdom of missy. Casual slutting it up doesn't have to lead to drama, if you follow the rest of the rules. as long as everyone is on board and you're all in it for the fun, being a playa is a perfectly acceptable and enjoyable lifestyle choice.

YAY summer. Here in Austin, it's been summer since about March, but for those of you in more reasonable climates, it's only just starting. I love summer! It's even better now that I work at the University because summer means all the college kids go away and we get the campus to ourselves and 6th Street isn't completely horrible for a few months. I made a pretty awesome mix last year. I don't know if this lives up, but I like it a lot, so enjoy!

music mix: songs that go well with a-lamb

[info]quiet000001 is sadly lacking in awesome current pop music. She wanted some stuff that would go well with Adam Lambert, and so I made her a mix of songs that I am sure my favorite alien unicorn would approve of.

(I dunno guys, maybe he's straight. He's so ambiguous about it.)

Lots of songs! In two files! Because yes. )

I made a mix for a friend who gave me the theme: animal. And I cheated, but if you can guess how, exactly, each song is animal-related, I will give you a prize. I am not sure what the prize is, but it will be awesome. Maybe I will make you a mix of your own, based on a theme you give me!

I'm pretty sure this was [info]llamabitchyo's idea, but we decided to make music mixes of our respective proms. Because yes! Because prom was awesome! So here's my mix. Keep in mind, I went to prom in 1998. Which was a weird year for music, and especially for kids who started high school in 1994 when Nirvana and Pearl Jam and grunge were the height of everything, and then four years went by and we had Brian Setzer and the Macarena. YEAH. So enjoy this eclectic mix that could only happen in 1998. And yes, "Wonderful Tonight" was our lame theme.

Everyone seemed sad yesterday, so I made you all a mix of songs that make me happy. YAY. They are not all *happy* songs, exactly, but there's something about each one of them that's just perfect or so lovely or undeniably enjoyable. So you do that! (Enjoy!)

So I am having this issue, wherein I am really starting to have this disturbing love/hate relationship with, um. The Jonas Brothers. This is bad because it's not often that I am ashamed of my fandom inclinations, but. It's the JoBros and thus, inherently embarrassing.

I mean, okay. I still hate them for not being able to sing or dance, and hence being a really shitty boyband. I still hate Kevin and think he is stupid looking. I still hate the whole retarded virgin/purity ring bullshit, because we all know that baby JoBro at least had sex with Miley. I mean, she sent him sexy pictures that were subsequently leaked by that hacker, so clearly, they've done it.

(And I'm sorry, there's no WAY that JoeJo is a virgin. At least his ass is not virginal. That boy is too pretty to be straight.)

But the most embarrassing part? I am starting to find baby JoBro pretty. I need to be saved, I think. This is what happens when Chasez refuses to put out new music--I end up liking shitty, embarrassing crap like the Jonas Brothers. Chasez, can't you see the pain I am enduring because of you?

Anyway, so this post isn't a complete waste of everyone's time, I made a mix.

Someone who I can't remember requested the audio of A-Lamb's song from this past week's idol. This is the studio version; yes, the first time I have ever bought anything on iTunes having to do with American Idol.

Ring of Fire / Adam Lambert

Let me know if it doesn't work for whatever reason. Enjoy the insanity, kids.

New default icon! In celebrations, here, have some music:

+Sixteen Going On Seventeen / Modern Music cov. the Sound of Music // I originally heard this in a State Farm commercial about getting your drivers' license and it is my new favorite song OMG. I am sad I made my BritC mix before hearing this. It is soooo BritC.

A bunch of New Kelly Clarkson, WOOT:

+I Do Not Hook Up // Right now this is my favorite song from the album. Oh sweetheart, put the bottle down.

+All I Ever Wanted // Is also very good.

+If I Can't Have You // Classic Kelly.

+Whyyawannabringmedown // OMG I LOVE THIS. This is the one song that really screams Kelly to me. And I mean SCREAMS. I like to think of this as her "Fuck you, Clive Davis, you misogynistic asshole!" song.

If anyone wants the rest of the album, let me know and I will upload the zip later.

I have a request in return for this awesome music. Tomorrow I am going to make a poll, asking:

What is the best piece of fanfiction you have ever read?

And I don't mean what's your favorite; I mean what is the fic you read and went, "WOW." What is the fic that stays with you, that made you FEEL or just amazed you with the gorgeousness of the writing. Which is the fic that made you forget you were reading fic entirely? I already know my answer. And it's not in the fandom you would assume, either. But I want to know. I want to collect a list of links. So think about it and answer my poll tomorrow. Any fandom. Yes, even bandom. I want to know which fic YOU consider the best fic of all time.

Consider. And tomorrow we will poll. And perhaps discuss.

So, I haven't started writing my BritC for [info]word2urmomma yet, but only because I can't decide where to start. I did, however, put together a mix. For inspiration. Because I am a giant dork. OH WELL.

A few of you requested You Ruined Me and I figured if you didn't have that, you were probably missing a few other rarer-ish JC tracks:

+You Ruined Me
+I'm Not Sleeping Alone
+If Only You Were Lonely
+Million Faces

The last two are from when he was on "Las Vegas" and played someone's no good ex-boyfriend who randomly sings/plays instruments in the bar of the casino. My favorite line is "it's 2am in the morning". Ahaha, OH CHASEZ. Is it 2am in the morning while you're getting cash from the ATM machine?

Secondly, I have finally finished updating my journalfen, which basically houses all of my fic, including the ones I had to lock on LJ because it contains underaged sex/drugs/rock n roll. Well, there are only two fics missing, actually, but they will be going up soon. I am phaballa over at journalfen as well, and my fic there is actually tagged by fandom, pairing, and series.

All I can say is, I don't remember writing those VMars fics. And I completely forgot that I wrote Degrassi femslash once.

Andrea's Favorite Things #19: Music!

Well, everyone loves music. I particularly love happy music, because there was a dark time in my life from, oh, 1994-2005 during which I listened pretty much exclusively to Nirvana (Bleach, Nevermind, and Unplugged), NIN (The Downward Spiral, Pretty Hate Machine), Live, Pearl Jam, the soundtrack to Les Miserables, and Elliott Smith. Yeah, not cheery stuff.

Now I try to mostly stick to happy music because it really improves my mood. I didn't think of this ahead of time, but now that I have, I will look through my iPod and create a mix of happy! And when I get home, I'll upload it and then everyone can be happy. So!

Baby girl it's plain to see that our love was meant to be! )

I uploaded this for [info]boomingvoice and I figured I'd post it in case anyone else wants it:

Fearless - Taylor Swift (97 megs)

It's the whole album, not just the song, obviously. And if you're saying to yourself, "But I hate country!" don't worry. This is not country. It's pop music pretending to be country, and it's VERY good. Highlights:

+'White Horse': a surprisingly feminist song from a girl who overuses the word "princess" in her music. This is like the anti-Princess song; it's about getting your heart broken and growing up and how stupid you feel when you let yourself fall for someone who ends up being an asshole. Includes the line: 'Cuz I'm not your princess / this ain't a fairytale / I'm gonna find someone someday / who might actually treat me well. Suck on that, Joe Jonas!

+Love Story: Cheesy, hilarious, and it makes me really emotional at the end, I am embarrassed to admit. Shhhh.

+You Belong with Me: A song about your best guy friend who's dating some annoying cheerleader and doesn't get him like you do! OMG, this is so my entire high school/college experience. Guys are so stupid sometimes.

+You're Not Sorry: This song reminds me of Avril Lavigne at her best, but not annoying and with a better voice.

So anyway, enjoy!
